BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Mojtaba Tabandeh is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology, Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU). He earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, where he developed his expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Tabandeh joined Wenzhou-Kean University in 2023 and is actively engaged in teaching, research, student mentoring, and academic service. He teaches a broad range of chemistry courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with particular interests in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and laboratory-based chemical education. He is also committed to mentoring undergraduate students and involving them in research projects and hands-on laboratory research. His research aims to integrate synthetic organic chemistry to develop functional molecules and materials with potential therapeutic and technological applications. A major focus of his research is the development of glycolipids and functional molecular systems, combining carbohydrates and lipids, two important renewable classes of chemical building blocks. His research works explore various potential applications in areas including targeted drug delivery, biomedical materials, bioconjugation, and molecular self-assembly. Dr. Tabandeh's broader research interests include biorthogonal click chemistry, biomedical applications of ionic liquids, and chemical approaches to drug delivery. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Tabandeh has participated in and contributed to national and international research projects and collaborations involving researchers and institutions in Malaysia, France, United States, China, and Iran. He has also been involved in securing research funding and developing interdisciplinary research initiatives. His research findings have been published in peer-reviewed international journals, including high-impact Q1 and Q2 journals, and presented at prestigious national and international conferences in chemistry and related disciplines.
