The College of Science, Mathematics and Technology is firmly grounded in scientific discoveries, inventions, and technological innovations that are inspired by nature and driven by data. We currently offer five undergraduate programs which are Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science, and two master’s programs which are Biotechnology and Computer Information System. Each program is strongly supported by state-of-the-art equipment and modern facilities. Students will learn the latest scientific developments but more importantly, they will apply their knowledge and skills by actively participating in various research projects and student competitions.

Professors in the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology are not just classroom instructors, but they are also highly accomplished scientists who have made significant contributions to their respective fields. Our professors teach and supervise research, and importantly, they also provide individual academic advising by carefully guiding students as they chart their own path to success.

Our students have the freedom to switch majors as they gradually discover their own interest and they can also select courses that could earn them a minor in another subject all of which, increase their academic repertoire thus making them more versatile and competitive both within and across disciplines. They are also encouraged to spend one or two semesters at our parent institution, Kean University in New Jersey, USA, to broaden their horizons and experience a truly world-class education.

Through the careful guidance of our professors and teaching staff, our students have consistently gained admission into graduate programs at the world’s top universities such as Harvard University, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Chicago, National University of Singapore, University College London, Australian National University, New York University, University of Southern California, University of Michigan Ann Harbor, George Washington University, and University of Pennsylvania.

Albert Einstein once said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

At the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology, we encourage students to dream big and have ambitions of global proportions. Through frequent conversations with their professors during office hours or casually over a cup of coffee, they imagine creative ways to discover new drugs, develop new health apps and smart biosensors, and develop innovative strategies for sustainable agriculture, bioremediation, and address global warming. Our professors listen attentively to the ideas of students and guide them accordingly. This inquiry-based learning approach will help students learn more effectively and enable them to develop critical thinking skills that will be crucial for their future success.

Every student also has plenty of opportunities for personal growth. Our professors are kind and approachable. They mentor students and serve as their role models. At the end of their journey at WKU, students not only developed academically, but they would have also matured into individuals, each with unique characteristics.
