发展向未来——Dr. Omar Dib教授向温州高中学生展示美式课堂科技前沿AI话题
On November 29, the College of Science, Mathematics and Technology at Wenzhou-Kean University hosted two groups of visiting students simultaneously 14 college students from five U.S. states and 45 high school students fromWenzhou High School. Together, they experienced an engaging computer science lecture. The event was led by Dr. Omar Dib, who delivered an intriguing lecture on artificial intelligence (Al). The session not only showcased the charm of technology but also gave the students a taste of Wenzhou Kean University's unique Sino-American integrated classroom environment.
At the beginning of the event, Dean Dr. Aloysius Wong gave a brief introduction to the topics of today's class and gave a detailed introduction to the computer science program at Wenzhou-Kean University. He stressed that computer science is not only the forefront of scientific and technological development, but also an important direction for future career development. Dr.Aloysius encourages students to explore this field of potential and develop their
own career horizons by learning programming and Al technologies.
At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Omar introduced the topic of Al in a lively and interesting way. He began by explaining what Al is and sharing examples of current applications of Al technology in various fields. In the process, Dr. Omar presented an amazing video of time travel through Al technology, which allowed the students to feel like they were in prehistoric times and meet various ancient creatures, including giant dinosaurs. This video not only made students feel the magic of science and technology, but also stimulated their interest in history and science. After the video was played, Dr. Omar showed off some Al-generated images that contained the artistic creations of those prehistoric creatures. He showed how Al can be used to combine different creatures to create entirely new fictional creatures. Through these intuitive examples, students gain a deeper understanding of Al's ability to learn. For example, Dr. Omar shows an artwork that incorporates features of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, explains the fundamentals of generative adversarial networks (Gans), and reveals how Al can"create" brilliant visual works by learning from large amounts of data.
Dr. Omar interacts with the students in a humorous way, encouraging them to ask questions and share their opinions, making the class atmosphere lively and relaxed. At the end of the lecture, he summarized the impact of Al technology on the future of society, especially in the fields of education, health care and transportation. He hopes that students can grasp the pulse of The Times, actively participate in the study and application of new technologies, and become future scientific and technological leaders. The visit not only allowed Wenzhou Middle School students to feel the charm of the American classroom, but also enhanced their understanding of artificial intelligence. Through the communication with Dr. Omar the students developed a strong interest in computer science and expressed their hope to further study relevant knowledge and explore more possibilities in the future.
At the end of the event, Professor Dr. Omar once again encouraged the students, emphasizing that Wenzhou-Kean University warmly welcomes more students to visit the university and experience the combination of cutting-edge technology and education. He believes that in such interactions, students can find their interests and create a better future. The success of the school visit not only provided students with an opportunity to learn about artificial intelligence, but also stimulated their enthusiasm for scientific exploration. We look forward to more such activities in the future, so that students can learn through practice and grow through interaction.
