Research interests

Dr. Tian’s research focuses on the field of life sciences, integrating techniques from cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, and multi-omics to explore microbial resources, investigate disease mechanisms, and develop therapeutic strategies. The primary research areas include: 1) Utilizing genomic technologies to classify and characterize novel microorganisms from human and environmental sources, screening for highly active and functionally promising strains, and exploring their potential applications in disease therapy. This also involves studying how microorganisms cause infectious diseases through mechanisms such as biofilm formation, revealing their relationships with diseases, and developing targeted intervention strategies; 2) Applying multi-omics approaches to study the dynamics of gut microbiota and their metabolites in the initiation and progression of diseases such as cancer, depression, and autism. This includes validating their roles in disease mechanisms through in vivo and in vitro experiments and exploring the efficacy of natural products and drug combinations as interventions, aiming to evaluate their potential in disease prevention and treatment.
