National Science and Technology Workers' Day
National Science and Technology Workers' Day was established on November 25, 2016, and is observed annually on May 30th. Organized by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), its implementation involves coordination with relevant departments.Activities for this day are diverse and include: National Innovation Competition Award Ceremony, Symposiums for Science and Technology Workers, Popular Science Lecture Tours, and Science and Technology Innovation Product Exhibitions. The day aims to encourage science and technology workers to uphold their mission, leverage their role as the primary resource for development, align closely with the central tasks of the Party and the nation, strive toward building China into a global leader in science and technology, and contribute to the nation through innovation. Each year’s observance carries a specific theme, reminding society of the vital role and immense contributions of science and technology workers. It inspires them to remain true to their original aspirations, bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the times, and dedicate their wisdom and strength to achieving high-level self-reliance in science and technology and establishing China as a global sci-tech powerhouse.
On May 24th, the second floor of Wenzhou-Kean University’s Wenzhou-Kean Hall transformed into a whimsical space base. Seventy families embarked on an interstellar adventure, "Space Adventure - Solar System Treasure Hunt", guided by the Nature's Oasis of Wenzhou-Kean University’s College of Science, Mathematics and Technology.Armed with small hammers, children uncovered planetary mysteries hidden within colorful toy spheres, turning Jupiter’s swirling patterns and Saturn’s luminous rings into treasures dancing in their palms. Through immersive interactive games, these young explorers not only pieced together a Solar System but also pondered cosmic questions under the guidance of students from the Department of Natural Sciences: "Why can Earth nurture life?"As the event concluded, each child pocketed their celestial discoveries, carrying home an unquenchable curiosity to continue exploring. The collision of innocent questions with rigorous science echoes the "voice of the future" that science and technology workers most eagerly anticipate. This extraordinary journey, co-created by the Nature's Oasis and Wenzhou-Kean University, reveals that science and technology workers sow not only knowledge but also the courage to ask "why." Today’s eight planets hidden in toy spheres may spark tomorrow’s world-changing ideas. Even as the last "planetary fragment" was decoded, the voyage through space continues, those eyes gleaming with wonder in the game may one day decode the enigmas of black holes and measure the vast scales of the Milky Way.
